How to Write a Complete RFQ for Lohar Industrial Fasteners and Lifting Hardware
A complete request for quotation gets you an accurate price faster. Use this checklist to include everything a supplier needs in the first message.
At a glance
4 key points- 01
Lead with the product type, size and quantity.
- 02
Attach a drawing, sample photo or size schedule wherever possible.
- 03
State material, finish and the service environment.
- 04
For lifting items, always state the required working load limit and documents.
01Why incomplete RFQs slow everything down
Most delays in industrial purchasing come from back-and-forth clarification: Which thread? What finish? Is a certificate needed? Each missing detail adds a round of questions before a supplier can even review your requirement.
A complete RFQ lets the supplier review the right product form, material and finish in the first response.
02The core details every RFQ needs
- Product type and form — for example, collared MS eye bolt or bolt-type bow shackle.
- Size or dimensions — thread size and pitch, lengths, inside dimensions or pipe size.
- Quantity — per size, including any split deliveries.
- Material — or the service environment it must suit.
- Finish — plain, plated, painted, galvanised or as specified.
- Delivery location and required timing.
03Attach a reference
A dimensioned drawing is the most reliable reference. If you do not have one, a clear photo of a sample with key measurements, an equipment model number, or a size schedule for fasteners all help.
04Extra details for lifting and load-bearing items
- Required working load limit (WLL).
- How the item will be loaded — in-line, angled, multi-leg, or the hitch for slings.
- Applicable standard, if your project specifies one.
- Marking, test certificate and documentation requirements.
Products like shackles, webbing slings and plate clamps must be quoted against a confirmed rating — never by size alone.

Questions & answers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an RFQ in industrial purchasing?
An RFQ, or request for quotation, is a document or message asking a supplier to price a defined requirement. It should list the product, size, quantity, material, finish, documents and delivery details.
Do I need a drawing to request a quote?
A drawing is preferred, but a sample photo with measurements, an equipment reference or a detailed size schedule can also start the review.
What extra information is needed for lifting products?
State the required working load limit, how the item will be loaded, any applicable standard, and marking or certificate requirements.
Can I request quotes for several products at once?
Yes. List each product and size with its quantity in one schedule so the full requirement can be reviewed together.
